Statewide protest of Bank of America resembles Occupy movement

CHARLOTTE -- A statewide protest kicked off Tuesday morning against Bank of America. Events are underway in Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Asheville and Charlotte with all fingers pointed toward the bank.

Very much like the Occupy movement, the groups want Bank of America to stop foreclosures, pay their fair share of taxes and shift investments away from fossil fuels to renewable energies.

Although the occupiers have lost momentum in 2012, these protestors say they're still part of the 99 percent and expect the movement to move forward this spring.

"This spring we're going to be a resurgence of the 99 percent Spring Movement," said Todd Zimmer from the Rainforest Action Network. "We'll be back holding corporations accountable for practices that hurt all Americans."

The protestors also say this is just a preview of what's to come. They will organize a bigger protest at the Bank of American's Investor Conference in Charlotte on May 9.
