RALEIGH — On Tuesday, the North Carolina Court of Appeals upheld the 2003 firing of a state trooper for having sex at work.

Authorities say Trooper Monty Poarch had sex with a woman in his cruiser and at a patrol station. The decision came after a 2007 ruling by an administrative judge that Poarch should be reinstated because other state troopers remained on the force despite worse behavior.

The investigation began in 2002 when a woman accused Poarch of stopping her because she was ending their affair.
