SMITHFIELD, N.C.--Smithfield is rolling out the red carpet for its most famous star this weekend.

The annual Ava Gardner Festival will be hosted at the museum dedicated to the actress. It will feature heritage tours that will take guests to the house where Gardner grew up and other important places in her life.

This year's festival puts a spotlight on the friendship between Gardner and actor Gregory Peck. The pair made three films together which will be shown throughout the weekend.

The festival begins Friday night and goes through the weekend.
