The Carolina Panthers have ruled Steve Smith and Jon Beason out while Thomas Davis will play in Sunday night's game against the New York Jets.

Preseason game No. 3 means the starters who are in the lineup will be on the field into the second half.

The Panthers are looking to build off their Week 2 win over Miami, and with guys like Smith and Beason on the sidelines, Head Coach Ron Rivera says those players hitting the field will be expected to carry the load.
