RALEIGH — As students prepare to head back to class at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh, a major expansion continues.

The school is adding two wings that will house extra classrooms and facilities for its arts and athletics program. The school's principal, Jason Curtis, said the renovations will ultimately enhance the student's learning experience overall.

"As our programs have grown our space needs have also grown as well. So what we need to do is provide an opportunity for all of our students to be here all day in the evenings and the weekends as well," said Curtis.

The entire construction project including renovations will cost about $15 million. It is expected to be completed next summer.
