WILMINGTON--Nine-year-old Kristina Danley is learning things that a typical adult may not know.

"I'm learning how crickets work, like how they make the sounds," said Danley.

But crickets are not the only thing she is learning about.

Add bats and other night creatures to the list and it will only begin to scratch the surface of what was offered during "A Night at the Museum."

"My mom told me stuff about it and they said. My mom said it was awesome," said Danley.

Danley was not the only person who thought so.

Several parents brought their kids to learn more about the creatures who explore the Cape Fear region at night.

"Why are fireflies on the decline? And sea turtle nesting, what happens at night when they nest on the beaches? So it's important to have the families and children to learn about the area in which they live and how to protect it," said Amy Kilgore, with the Cape Fear Museum.

"Instead of reading and hearing about history and those sorts of things,they get to experience them and get into that really hands-on stuff that's really good for them," said parent Jeff Ertzberger.

Danley said she will safeguard her new found knowledge and carry it with her.

"Yeah, probably for the future if i want to be a scientist or whatever I want to be," said Danley.
