CHARLOTTE--As the Carolina Panthers left the field Friday night after a victory over the Miami Dolphins, the Democratic National Convention Committee was ready to jump in and begin work on Bank of America Stadium for the convention's September 6 event.

For months, the DNC Committee has been working hard around town, with both preps and physical work and now, it'll really ramp up at the stadium.

Friday night's game marked the start of work at the stadium, for arguably the biggest moment of the stadium's 16-year history, and only the 8th non-football event held at the site.

Monday was the first day they sent in contractors to get started on the work.

Some behind-the-scenes construction include wi-fi upgrades, which will remain after the DNC. The construction mainly has to do with the large scale production and amount of media they're expecting.

Officials say the construction impact on the field will be minimal and compare it to a rock concert at a football stadium.

"We're very aware of the time we have to pull off an extraordinarily large event with a vast number of pieces that need to be pulled together in synch and seamlessly executed," said Alan Fitts, Director of Stadium Operations DNCC.

DNCC officials say the installation will be quick and so will the tear down.

They say the stage will be down in 24 hours and they'll be out of the stadium 72 hours after the nominations. This will be right before the Panthers host their first regular season game on September 16.
