Raleigh police officer injured in car accident

RALEIGH — More information has been released about an officer-involved accident that sent three people to the hospital in Raleigh Monday evening.

The incident happened at the intersection of South Wilmington Street and Chapanoke Road around 6 p.m. Investigators say Officer Sandi Rogers had her sirens on when she tried to turn left onto Chapanoke Road in front of James Stewart Jr .

Authorities say Officer Rogers collided with Stewart which caused the accident. Rogers was charged for not wearing her seat belt.
