Some dilapidated houses in Wayne County may soon be getting a makeover.
The county was awarded a $400,000 dollar grant by the State Department of Commerce.
The Wayne County Board of Commissioners approved a contract Tuesday with a private consultant to carry out the project.
"It will not focus on one neighborhood in the county but it will allow that consultant to go out and find people that have housing needs no matter where they are in the county and they will work with those people as long as the money will last,” said Wayne County Planning Director Connie Price
The consultant will review applicants, then work with the county to find a contractor.
