Authorities in Martin County are investigating skeletal remains found in nearby woods.
Officials say a tip led them to the bones which they gathered Saturday with help from the East Carolina University Department of Anthropology.
No information has been released on how long the remains were in the woods or whether they were male or female.
Deputies say the bones were found so deep in the woods that all-terrain vehicles were needed to get to them.
