CENTENNIAL, Colo. – The man authorities say opened fire in a packed Colorado movie theater -- killing twelve people and injuring many others -- appeared in court today for the first time.
James Holmes, 24, did not say anything during the hearing.
He will be formally charged with murder at a hearing next Monday. Conviction would get Holmes mandatory life in prison without parole, but prosecutors could seek the death penalty.
Authorities are holding Holmes in solitary confinement and police say he's not cooperating.
They still haven't determined a motive for the shooting.
