There has been recent speculation on the pronunciation of Camp Lejeune. The military base is named after Lt. Gen. John A. Lejeune. The family has a French and Creole background, which causes the name to be pronounced “Luh-JERN.” Former Marine Patrick Brent has written several articles on the issue.
