DURHAM -- Food truck vendors and city residents met with Durham city leaders Monday night. They discussed a proposed ordinance that could eliminate the permit process for vendors and set some restrictions on where they could set up.

Some vendors are concerned about the possibility that the ordinance would prevent them from setting up near restaurants, but said most of the changes would be for the better.

"The bulk of the rule changes, they were positive," said food vendor Brian Bottger. "Making things a little easier for us in terms of our permitting, making things a little easier for setting up in the street. [They're] not too complicated, trying to simplify things and I think that's important."

City officials said feedback from the meeting will be taken into consideration as they continue to make changes to the ordinance.
