RALEIGH – Many in the Triangle want to know what they can do to help victims in the Stony Brook North mobile home community.
Saturday's tornado ripped through the neighborhood damaging or destroying homes and killing four children. A group of volunteers came together in a grassroots effort to organize things at Stony Brook.
They decided they want to pair church and civic groups with a specific family to help them with their individual needs.
"They'll meet them. They'll build a relationship with them,” said volunteer Kim Johnson. “They will assess their needs and then connect them to the resources that are already established."
There is also a need for bilingual Spanish-English speakers and mental health professionals.
If your group wants to help the Stony Brook community, you're asked to call a hotline set up at 919-472-4113.
