JACKSONVILLE, N.C. – A former Onslow County sheriff’s deputy is accused of taking indecent liberties with a child.

Jacksonville police charged 34-year-old Edward Negron with crimes that reportedly took place 10 years ago at Camp Lejeune.

Sheriff Ed Brown says a woman who is now 25 years old told her father that some type of sex happened when the girl was 15 years old and Negron was 23. Brown says the woman didn't come forward until recently.

Negron resigned from the sheriff's office in June. Brown says Negron was a good employee for the 10 months he was at the sheriff's office.
