FAYETTEVILLE — Enrollment is up more than twenty-five percent this year at Methodist University, and officials believe it is largely due to a new nursing program set to start in the Fall.

The program however, is not easy to get into. Competition is steep due to high demand—more than three hundred students were turned down. The program has been so popular that the director, Mary Hall, recently had to hire an administrative assistant to help handle some of the workload.

But Hall said the nursing program is not the only area of the school seeing growth.

“The college is experiencing growth all over the place. It's an usual year for us. We have the problem that we have so many students that we don't know where to put everything, so it's a wonderful time for us,” said Hall.

Right now the focus is on filling this classroom with future nurses. With the beginning of the school year only weeks away, Hall said probably feels a bit like her future students do with a mix of emotions.

"I'm so excited, but at the same time, scared to death, because I want it to be so successful. This college has put a lot into it and I've put my whole career into this so I really hope it all pays off and the students have a great time doing it," said Hall.
