RALEIGH – The Carolina Rollergirls and the Salvation Army teamed up to help hungry families in Wake County. They held a roller derby match at the Skate Ranch in Raleigh off Trawick Road.
Fans who brought four cans of nonperishable items to donate got a raffle ticket in exchange. And at halftime, the winners received autographed jerseys and other prizes.
The Carolina Rollergirls will deliver the donations themselves next Sunday. They will also serve a meal at the women's and children's shelter.
