FAYETTEVILLE – Cumberland County Superintendent Frank Till says Dr. Diane Antolak, the principal of Terry Sanford High School, has resigned. Antolak came under fire last fall when allegations surfaced of improper grade changing with members of the football team.
Antolak was suspended with pay while the county's board of education investigated.
Officials say a player on the team was ruled ineligible last season after discrepancies surfaced in attendance and academic records. The team was initially suspended from play but was eventually allowed to participate in the playoffs.
The county says it will submit a report to the N.C. Department of Public Instruction about the incident and will work with the school over the next week to correct individual grades.
