A landmark ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court late last month will pave the way for corporations to use their own money to support or oppose candidates for public office.
The five-to-four ruling overturned federal laws set in place to prevent private companies from using profits to buy political campaign ads and threatens to do the same to similar measures passed in 24 states.
Reform advocates say it restores free speech to those corporations. Bob Hall from Democracy North Carolina and Bob Phillips from Common Cause both sat down to discuss the issue.
