RALEIGH – The Wake County school board voted Tuesday to abandon the current site for a new high school in the northeastern part of the county.

Members said two other sites would be better for traffic and the community.

School officials have said changing the site could delay the opening of the school by two years and cost an extra $15 million.

The board instructed officials to negotiate buying one of the other two pieces of land.
