RALEIGH – The New Hanover County and Mecklenburg County local ABC boards have faced intense scrutiny after reports of excessive salaries and high dollar dinners courtesy of liquor companies.

The controversy led to a request by the state ABC Commission for the local boards to agree to a ban on gifts.

To help explain how the system works and talk about the issues, News 14 Carolina's Tim Boyum spoke with the state's ABC commissioner, Jonathan Williams.

Also this week, Tim Boyum touches on the topics John Edwards and the indictment of former Gov. Mike Easley's right-hand man, Ruffin Poole.
