Federal regulators held an annual public meeting in Holly Springs to discuss safety inspections and concerns at Harris Nuclear Power Plant. The meeting was already scheduled before Duke Energy Progress shut down the plant last week because of a crack at the nuclear energy facility.

The state Senate's $21 billion spending plan, which includes a 2.3 percent increase in spending for the state, is expected to move through committee this week. The 2.3 percent increase in spending would include about $1 billion to control Medicaid costs and about $53 million for education reform.

On Tuesday Wake Forest residents impacted by well-water contamination will find out what's next in their quest to make sure their water is clean and safe. The EPA will announce the completion of Phase Two where water lines were installed in about 20 homes where the carcinogen TCE was detected.

At least 35 killed in Oklahoma tornado, death toll to rise

At least 35 people have been confirmed dead after a tornado touched down outside of Oklahoma City, the the death tool is expected to rise. The tornado came through less than 24 hours after several twisters touched down throughout the Midwest. The storm was reported in the town of Moore, south of Oklahoma City.
