SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- There are several position battles taking place within this year's Panthers camp.

From kickers to spots on defense, every practice is vital to making an impression on the coaches.

It's the nature of the NFL – no Job is safe in a performance-based business – so even a veteran like Captain Munnerlyn knows he has to go hard every day.

"I like competition. They're making some plays out there, they're doing a great job. But you know me, when they make a play, I know I have to go out and make a play. I have to turn it up another notch," he said. "If you're not a competitor, you should not be playing this game."

The Panthers host the Texans Saturday night in their preseason opener.
