Duke DT Bruce out following foot surgery
DURHAM (AP) -- Duke defensive tackle Jamal Bruce is out with a broken bone in his right foot.
Team officials said Wednesday that there is no timetable for Bruce's return. He had surgery Tuesday to repair a stress fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his foot.
Coach David Cutcliffe says Bruce's presence on the interior defensive line will be "temporarily missed.''
Bruce is a 6-foot-1, 285-pound redshirt sophomore from LaGrange, Ga., who was listed as a starter for the first time. This spring, he was selected the team's most improved defensive player. He had five tackles while playing in all 12 games as a reserve.
