Tony Tata holds first briefing since new board members sworn-in

CARY, N.C. — Wake County Schools Superintendent Tony Tata wants to incorporate the land and students from the School of the Blind into in the Wake County Public School System.

Tata spoke on the issue among others at his weekly media briefing Friday morning. He said using the land could help to ease overcrowding in the district.

“We have demand in that area we are short seats obviously inside Raleigh it would be fantastic to be able to use that land and save that program and it just makes to much since and hopefully we will be able to pull it off where it makes financial since for all parties concerned,” said Tata.

Tata also would like to better incorporate the School of the Blind students at Wake County schools. This was Tata's first media briefing since the new Democratic school board was seated.
