RALEIGH -- More than 250 people got help Monday night getting started with Wake County Schools' new choice student assignment plan.
The school system is holding a series of parent information meetings to help walk families through the process of selecting schools and using the new assignment plan.
Dozens of people asked questions about exactly how the plan would work in their situation, how they should rank their school preferences and asked for clarification about high performance school choices.
Many of the families say the assignment plan is just too complicated.
"It's very complicated. If you look at the priorities and whether you are going to get in according to siblings and group one and group two. I think it's very confusing for the average citizen even for the not-so-average citizen," said grandparent Elaine Wilson.
The school system has more than a dozen parent information sessions scheduled during the next month. The next ones are Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. One is at Durant Road Elementary School. The other is at Knightdale Town Hall. Click here to see a complete list of meetings.
