RALEIGH -- Wake County Schools Superintendent Tony Tata will hold another media briefing Friday as the first week of student assignment selections wrap up. Families have been able to access their school choice lists under the new assignment plan since Monday. The school board approved it in a six-to two vote last Tuesday.

Options include a list of nearby schools with year-round and traditional calendar options, as well as magnet schools, and specialty programs.
