RALEIGH -- Wake County Schools Superintendent Tony Tata held his first media briefing Friday morning since releasing the final student assignment plan.

The plan would allow parents to choose from at least five elementary schools, two middle schools, and two high schools based on their home address. Options would include year-round, traditional, magnet, and high performing schools.

Parents can see how the plan might affect them by registering online beginning Saturday. A public hearing will be held at 5 p.m. on Oct. 13 at Broughton High School.

The board is expected to vote on the plan on the Oct. 18.
