FAYETTEVILLE – More charter schools may be coming to the state in the future. This week the state's Board of Education accepted appointments of 11 members on the state's new Charter School Advisory Council.

The board is also working on speeding up the process to have new charter schools ready to be open for classes by August 2012. Supporters of charter schools say it gives students more options.

"Rather than be assigned a school, a parent may have a child that a particular charter, with its education plan, with its leadership, may fit their child and with some parents it might not," said Alliance President Ed Goodall.

Senate Bill 8 was the law passed in June which ended the 15 year cap of the number of charter schools allowed in the state. The cap was set at 100.
