RALEIGH — Wake County superintendent Tony Tata announced on Friday he will soon present assignment models being reviewed by the task force he formed for public comment.

During Friday's weekly media briefing, Tata said the task force is looking into nine plans. One proposal recommends giving total parental choice to assigning every family to their neighborhood schools. Tata said there are two points that must be addressed when deciding what plan is best.

"Is it feasible and is it acceptable. Is it feasible, OK, so that's the left ditch. OK so can we afford it? Is it logistically possible? We don't want to drive into that ditch where it's unaffordable and not logistically possible,” said Tata.

Tata said the nine models will be posted online in the next few weeks for public input. He plans to present the recommendation to the school board in June.
