RALEIGH -- Wake County's newest and largest high school will likely open for the 2014 school year. School board members got an update on the timeline at a committee meeting Tuesday morning.
The board voted to abandon the previous site despite staff warnings it would delay the opening of the school. The original site would have the high school open by 2012.
Board members and administrators will now try to find ways to speed up the process of building Rolesville High School.
"There are several different things we're looking at right now,” said school board member Chris Malone. “Some of them might cost a little bit more money, so we have to be very careful about that. I'm very circumspect about that. But all options are on the table right now."
School administrators plan to finalize a site by mid-May but they are doubtful right now that enough time could be saved to open the school in 2013.
