RALEIGH — The trial of former state House member Stephen LaRoque, who is accused of theft and money laundering, could begin this fall.
US District Court judge Malcolm Howard said the former representative's trial could start as soon as Oct. 9.
LaRoque was indicted in July on eight counts and is accused of misusing federal funds for nonprofits he managed. LaRoque stepped down from the house toward the end of July.
LaRoque's attorney said his client is innocent.
