GREENSBORO—The state tourism office has rolled out some new marketing tools to help promote one of North Carolina's billion dollar businesses.
State officials have unveiled a mobile site, upgraded wine guide and billboards to help the region's wine industry.
"It's a $1.28 billion industry in North Carolina and really important, it gives us 7,600 jobs for the state," said Director of Tourism Marketing for the NC Division of Tourism Wit Tuttell.
Wine experts explain the state sits in a unique location, making it idea for vineyards. Winemaker for Childress Vineyards Mark Friszolowski said the vineyard has been branding its wine as as another food item, that enhances a culinary experience.
"We can sufficiently ripen red wine, which a lot of regions on the east coast can't do because the growing season's just not long enough. We work a lot with not only local restaurants, but in restaurants in Raleigh and on the coast and even in Charleston," said Friszolowski.
The state's tools will be helping to promote, not only Childress Vineyards but others in the state, especially the smaller ones that lack advertising dollars. For a look at the marketing tools and some of the wineries in North Carolina, click here.
