LELAND—The former Town of Leland police chief will appeal his termination.

Town manager David Hollis said Tim Jayne sent him an email Wednesday asking him to reverse his decision.

Jayne was fired Feb. 1 after town officials said they were re-structuring several departments to increase efficiency. Several other positions were eliminated as well.

Disciplinary records show Jayne was placed on probation in September for six months for management actions inconsistent with the town's personnel policy. Jayne and Hollis plan to meet on Monday morning to discuss the appeal.
