2012 Wilmington Azalea Festival Queen announced

WILMINGTON—The 2012 Wilmington Azalea Festival begins April 11, during a press conference Wednesday, festival organizers announced their 2012 Queen.

Miss America 2004 Ericka Dunlap has been crowned as this year's Azalea Festival Queen. Dunlap was the first and only African-American to be crowned Miss Florida in the state's pageant history.

North Carolina native American Idol winner Scotty McCreery will headline the festival with a concert at Trask Coliseum on April 13. Other celebrities that will attend the festival include Miss North Carolina 2011 Hailey Best, Ashley Spivey of the hit show the bachelor, and Maj. Gen. James Livingston, Col. Jerry Ross and former NASA astronaut Sgt. 1st Class Hugh Conlon IV.
