BURLINGTON--Alamance Regional Medical Center is one of the top users of medical information technology in the nation.

The hospital is the only one in the Triad or Triangle to receive the designation from the "2012 Most Wired" survey.

In addition to Alamance Regional Medical Center, six other North Carolina hospitals earned the designation.

The hospital uses electronic patient records, computerized physician orders, automated drug allergy alerts and a computer system to view CT and MRI scans, as well as xrays.

Alamance Regional first started using electronic medical records in 1998.
