RALEIGH — The Ronald McDonald House has donated more than $26,000 to the Assistance League of the Triangle Area to help the organization purchase clothes and shoes to the less fortunate.
The efforts are part of the Assistance League's "Operation School Bell" program. Officials say the goal is to help kids stay in the classroom by providing them with appropriate and comfortable school attire.
“Now we are going to be able to have more schools, and therefore more children. And we are in the process right now of approaching people who are going to help us get those supplies,” said Assistance League of the Triangle Area spokesperson Sharron Grant.
Operation School Bell has been providing materials to children since 1998.
