HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — The Town of Hillsborough unveiled a new monument at Margaret Lane cemetery on Saturday.

It is preserving grave markers at the African-American Cemetery that dates back to before the civil war. The monument preserves three headstones from unknown grave sites at the cemetery.

It was designed and built by public works employee Sam Dunevant.
