One North Carolina afterschool program strives to excite kids about science. The Morehead Planetarium after-school program delivers more than a hands-on science lesson. UNC students pick up and deliver students with the help of public transportation, to the planetarium. While at the planetarium, the children do a variety of interesting science activities.

A group of teachers embarked on a journey across the state, taking in the sights and sounds of North Carolina nature. During their journey, the teachers recorded what they saw in log books. The information collected from the trip along with video will be used to create virtual field trips to show in classrooms.

Saturday marked the last day of competition at the First Robotics tournament. More than 30 schools from across the state took part in the regional competition at Dorton Arena. Rebound Rumble was this year's theme so students designed their robots to shoot hoops.

This week, 40 young ladies put their minds to work, trying to inventing the next big thing we can’t live without by participating in Time Warner Cable’s “Wouldn’t It Be Cool If…” campaign. This program challenges kids ages 10 through 15 to dream up the coolest thing to make their life, community or even the world more awesome, and to think about how science and math could help bring those ideas to life.
