Meteorologist Pati Darak
Meteorologist Pati Darak is a familiar face in central North Carolina. She joined News14 Carolina as part of the Weather on the Ones team in October, 2007.
Pati spent two and a half years as a staff meteorologist at WTVD-TV. Her first few months on the job were spent covering Hurricane Irene and a major snow storm that hit the Carolinas that year. During that storm season, Pati was seen by millions of people around the nation reporting live via Satellite for the Weather Channel. She was also a staff meteorologist at WNCN-TV.
Her forecasting abilities also took her to WWMT-TV in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where she guided viewers through lake-effect snow and straight-line wind events on a regular basis.
Pati spent three years as the Weekend Weather Anchor at WGAL-TV (NBC) in Harrisburg-York-Lancaster-Lebanon, Pennsylvania. During that time she also provided weather reports for Newschannel 8 in Springfield, Virginia and for the local Fox/UPN station in Baltimore, Maryland. Before that, Pati worked as a Morning Weather Anchor at WOI-TV (ABC) in Des Moines, Iowa, and at WLUC-TV in Marquette, Michigan.
She has an Associate of Arts degree from Morton College in Cicero, Il, a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois and received her meteorology education via the University of Oregon and the Mississippi State Broadcast Meteorology program.
During her downtime, Pati sings with and heads up Publicity for the Choral Society of Durham and is a Board member for Classical Voice North Carolina. She and her family make their home in Durham.
