HENDERSON, N.C.--Neighbors and classmates are trying figure out why a Henderson teen they knew and loved was murdered.

Officials say 14-year-old Clayton Batchelor, Jr. was riding his bike in the early morning hours Wednesday around the time he was hit.

Classmates say the teen known as C.J. stayed out of trouble and loved to play basketball.

"Tears just came to my eyes and I was just crying because it just saddens me when things like this happen in the community and you know his mother, my heart just goes out to his mother and his family,” said neighbor Nakeisha Alston.

Police have recovered the bicycle the teen was riding.

There are no suspects yet, but investigators say they doing a lot of interviewing.
