RALEIGH—Runners are taking over the Capital City Sunday morning.
The event is part of the 5th annual City of Oaks marathon. More than 3,200 runners participated last year and organizers expect a similar crowd this year.
The course is 26.2 miles long for the fill course: the race winds through downtown, Cameron Village, past Meredith College, down Blue Ridge, reedy creek to Upstead Park, then back up Ebenezer Church Road to Edward's Mill. Then Reedy Creek, Blue Ridge Road and Hillsborough St. again to the finish line.
Many of the roads will not open until after 1 p.m. Sunday.
