RALEIGH – The Junior League of Raleigh is holding the annual A Shopping Spree Event this weekend at the Raleigh Convention Center. It’s an event that marks 25 years of fundraising for the organization.
Organizers held a runway fashion show on Friday, featuring collections from Saks Fifth Avenue. Katherine Southard, also known as Miss North Carolina, served as the event’s mistress of ceremonies.
Each year, the event raises money for community projects that focus on education, health and women and children services. Shopping continues until 6 p.m. Saturday, and Sunday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
Meanwhile, another fashion show in Raleigh on Friday paired local designers with charity organizations.
The Couture for a Cause event was organized by ME3, a nonprofit that works with community programs to help make volunteering easy, fulfilling and accessible. Area designers worked with volunteers to design outfits that represented the mission of groups like The Boys and Girls Clubs and the Interfaith Food Shuttle.
Proceeds from the event will help benefit the programs that ME3 promotes.
